Waterfall Illustration Assignment. "Waterfall of hair" 2008 Digital

Portrait of a girl Amber from my class. She's from Alaska, hence the Alaska shape, loves patterns, specially argyle, and fairy tales! She also has this fire red hair that's super long!

This illustration was done in Professional Practice 2008 fall semester. Our assignment was to do an illustration for the cover of City Pages Magazine. I drew this sketch, scanned it then finished it up in adobe illustrator. Fun stuff! This is the restaurant I work at "Cap's Grille"!!!!! I've been working at this rib joint for 4 years now, damn times flies...

Target Gift Card Mockup Assignment

This was a very fun project. Andy from Target Headquarters in Minneapolis came to MCAD and gave my Professional Practice class a Target Gift Card assignment. He came around and looked at our portfolio's and styles, he picked "Baby" gift cards for me. I made up 12 concepts. Many of baby animals and their mothers, instead of choosing only one idea, they chose two of mine. This was the first one. A Mother bird and her babies in a nest within my designed font in watercolor. I'm very proud of this design.

This is the end product in the Target Gift Card Template. :)

Promo Card!!!

Sketched and inked, the rest in Illustrator CS3. Inspired by fashion illustration and of course, my wiener dog Sampson!

Made in Professional Practice class with Tom Garrett. He's an amazing graphic designer/illustrator/teacher. He really pushes me with my digital process, which I am extremely enjoying presently!

Japan Brochure, Food, Land Marks, and Culture

This where my style really begin to develope. I love to paint with bright colors, I love graphic flat styles, I love to draw food, flowers, people and organic fluid lines. I had so much fun for this piece, I want to re do this digitally.

"Opposites Attract"

Done in Illustration 3. Ink.

This is one of my first Illustrations. In Ulana Zahajkewycz, Illustration 1 class. I had so much fun in that class, it was freeing and just plain fun. The assignment was to find a headline and make an illustration for it. I honestly cant remember what the headline was but it was ridiculous! It was from some bad mag like, OK! or Star. One with false or over dramatic articles of celebs. This celeb is New York from the overly dramatic TV show "I Love New York" on MTV. She's a dive, to say the least, loves money, men, and being #1. I believe I illustrated her dominate personality and colorful attitude. The men on the bottom climbing to reach her on the hear balloons are the men in competition to "steal her heart", meaning their 15 minutes of fame. Bad show, loud noises, but a great subject to illustrate! This sketch was inked and scanned in the Epson. Followed by coloring in Photoshop.

Hello!

Welcome to my blog! This is a whole new experience to me. I never thought I would have a blog and even still I don't believe anyone will read/follow it ;) I wish they had cooler fonts. I'm disappointed in that area...

This photo I attached is a photo from Miami two years ago. It's of a beautiful floor to ceiling length mirror in a bar I went to with my very best friend Francisca, another artist like me! I find this photo atmospheric and elegant. It was a moment in time where I realized that no matter where I was my eye always was drawn to beauty inevitably.
Ever since I was a wee baby Emiko I always surrounded myself with art. Paper crayons, markers, color pencils, paints, paper galore, would encompass me on the living room carpet floor.

There is much more to come on this blog, mostly my illustrations but also photos, designs, and thoughts. See you soon!
